When you think of small creatures, what do you think of? Ants? Puppies? Single cell creatures?
A weird brainwave over came me today during worship today. We were singing Trust His Heart when this weird thought came to me.
"All things work for our good
Though sometimes we can't see how they could
Struggles that break our hearts in two
Sometimes blind us to the truth
Our Father knows what's best for us
His ways are not our own
So when your pathway grows dim
And you just can't see Him
Remember you're never alone
Chorus:
God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don't understand
Don't see His plan
When you can't trace His hand
Trust His heart
He sees the master plan
He holds the future in His hands
So don't live as those who have no hope
All our hope is found in Him
We see the present clearly
But He sees the first and the last
And like a tapestry He's weaving you and me
To someday be just like Him"
~Trust His Heart
As we sang in worship, I realized we ARE the small creatures. In the grand scheme of the universe, we are smaller than a speck of dust. At times we think we are in control of the world. Oh how we have been fooled. What can we control in our life? The actions we choose in the present. The past is passed, we cannot change the past. And the future has not happened so we cannot do anything about it. So whenever, if ever, we are in "control", it is only control of the present.
What is the present? The sliver of time where the past and the future meets. So that in the grand scheme of the universe, it's nothing. However, to our Father who is the Alpha and the Omega, He controls the past, the present and the future. So to our Father, we are extremely small creatures. However, He still loves us enough to forsake His son for us.
How great is that love?
